BIOGRAPHY

• Prof. Kumar was born on 30 December 1977. He completed his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in 1998 from Hindu?College,?Sonipat (affiliated to MDU Rohtak, Haryana) in Physics, Computer Science & Mathematics, and receiving a University Scholarship. He then completed his Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Physics in 2000 from Maharshi?Dayanand?University,?Rohtak, and qualified both JRF + NET of CSIR-UGC in June 2000 and December 2000. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from Indian?Institute?of?Technology?Delhi (IIT Delhi) in 2004. The thesis was titled “Preparation and Characterization of PMN-PT Bulk and Thin Ferroelectric Films”. He joined NIT Rourkela (or began associations) in July 2006. His research group is specialized in functional materials: bulk, thin and nano-materials. His work includes synthesis and characterization of functional ceramics, ferroelectric films, composites for energy storage and multifunctional devices. 16 students have completed Ph.D under his guidance and he has handled 13 research projects, sponsored by various agencies. HE has published over 130 research papers in reputed International journals and appeared in the top2% Stanford scientists list for the years: 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024, respectively. Prof. Pawan Kumar is a well-established academic in the field of materials physics, particularly functional ceramics and ferroelectric thin films. For students interested in materials, device-oriented ceramics or thin films, he represents a significant faculty member to work with at the Physics Department.
