Syllabus

Module 1 :

Unit 1: Introduction to the Discipline- Introduction to the Management and Ethics, various disciplines of Indian Education System, importance of science dealing with management and ethics, Treatise dealing with the management and ethics, fields of management, practices dealing the ethics.
Unit 2: Individual Governance- Management and ethical practices at the level of Individual, routine and conduct, conflict resolution at individual level, the concept of attachment and detachment, theory of selfless service, decision making, selection of best among the options.
Unit 3: Social Control- The concept of rights and duties, preservation of morals, violation of rules – justified or unjustified, the significance of relative profits, importance of devotion and commitment, leadership, accepting of challenges, welfare –its meaning and types, preservation of welfare of state and people.
Unit 4: Governance Procedure- Appointment of the ministers, duties of Government superintendents, treasury, spies, royal writ, Judiciary and punishment
Unit 5: Economic Dimension- Management and Ethics in Business, Human Resource Management, Ethical practices, leadership, quality preservation, Management Accounting, Body of income of the state, collection of revenue, forty ways of embezzlement of the revenue, punishment for the embezzlement of revenue, expenditure, Loss and Profit, Keeping up the Accounts, Recovery of Debts, Deposits of the state, Resumption of the gifts, Remission of Taxes.
Unit 6: Political Dimension- Six fold Policy- War, Combination of Powers, Agreement of Peace with or without definite terms, Double Policy, Circle of States, Conduct of Corporations, Secret means, planning of different Vyuhas in War.

Course Objective

1 .

Understand Ancient Wisdom in Management and Ethics: To introduce students to the foundational concepts of management and ethics from ancient Indian treatises and how these principles are applied in various disciplines of the Indian education system.

2 .

Explore Individual Governance Practices: To examine management and ethical practices at the individual level, including decision-making, conflict resolution, and the balance between attachment and detachment.

3 .

Analyze Social Control Mechanisms: To investigate the concepts of rights and duties, moral preservation, leadership, and welfare in the context of ancient wisdom and their relevance to modern social and political governance.

4 .

Apply Ancient Governance and Economic Principles: To apply ancient principles of governance, economic management, and political strategy to contemporary scenarios, focusing on administrative practices, ethical issues in business, and political policy.

Course Outcome

1 .

1. Articulate Ancient Principles: Students will be able to articulate and explain the core principles of management and ethics derived from ancient Indian texts and their relevance to modern practices.
2. Implement Ethical Practices: Students will demonstrate the ability to implement ethical practices in individual and organizational settings, drawing from ancient theories of selfless service, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
3. Evaluate Social and Political Strategies: Students will be able to evaluate and critique ancient strategies related to social control, welfare, leadership, and political governance, and apply these insights to current social and political challenges.
4. Apply Economic and Political Wisdom: Students will be proficient in applying ancient economic and political principles to contemporary issues, including revenue management, ethical business practices, and strategic planning in political contexts.
