Course Contents:

1. Leadership: concepts and practice, nature of leadership, styles of leadership, qualities inherent in each style of leadership, leadership communication in the new workplace
2. The Ethical advantage, nature of ethics, benefits of an ethical culture, recognizing an ethical company, ethics and communication
3. Ethics in business, Ethical dilemmas and ethical lapses, Creating an ethical organisational climate, signs of healthy ethical climates
4. Addressing ethics in leadership, the future of ethical leadership
5. Ethical narratives, accounts, life-stories, and case-histories

Course Objectives

  • Understand the concepts of leadership, leadership style and communication, and the basics of ethical leadership.
  • Appreciate the benefits of an ethical culture, recognize an ethical company, and the ethical advantage
  • Identify the skills and characteristics that help create and foster ethical leadership
  • Discuss and debate on ethical narratives, accounts, life-stories, and case-histories

Course Outcomes

1. Understand and appreciate the basics of ethical leadership. <br />2. Gain insight into how ethical issues in leadership may be managed and achieved. <br />3. Recognise the benefits of an ethical culture. <br />4. Understand the difference between ethical dilemmas and ethical lapses.
