Module 1: Concepts of Environment, Ecology, Adaptation, Sustainable Development Environmental World Views and Folk Cosmology
Module 2: Ecology of Hunting and Gathering, The Origins of Food Production,
Module 3: Ecology of Horticulture, Ecology of Pastoralism
Module 4: Ecology of Intensive Agriculture, Current Issues and Problems
Module 5: Traditional Ecological Knowledge, Biodiversity Conservation, and Sustainable Agriculture and Development.
Course Objectives
- To familiarize the concepts of ecology, adaptation, and sustainable development
- To understand the ecology of hunting-foraging, pastoralism, incipient agriculture, and agricultural intensification
- To explore the diverse human-environmental interactions and environmental issues
Course Outcomes
After the completion of this course, students will be able to: <br /> <br />CO1: Understand how peoples adapted to the environment, <br />CO2: Explain diverse perspectives to understand human ecological relations, <br />CO3: Comprehend the ecological approaches to sustainable development, <br />CO4: Identify the emerging issues of the environment, <br />CO5: Learn the role of traditional ecological knowledge in environmental management.
