Course Objectives

  • To study about the basics of wireless networks
  • To understand the challenges in wired vs. wireless domain in computer networks.
  • To study about various types of wireless networks, i.e cellular networks, Bluetooth, Ad <br />hoc networks and wireless sensor networks.
  • To study about various network security attacks and key management.

Course Outcomes

Upon completion of this module, students will be able to: <br />1. Understand the under lying technologies of wireless networks. <br />2. Specify and identify deficiencies in existing wireless protocols for MAC layer and Network layer, and then go onto formulate new and better protocols. <br />3. Understand the technology behind the cellular network, installation of base station, Bluetooth etc. <br />4. To master the concepts of ad hoc networks and the design / performance issues in wireless local area networks and wide area networks. <br />5. To be familiar with contemporary issues in networking technologies.
