Syllabus
Unit I: Boolean Algebra and Logic gates
To study and verify the truth table of various logic gates (NOT, AND, OR, NAND, NOR, EX-OR, & EX-NOR). Realization of Boolean algebra using logic gates.
Unit II: Design and Analysis Of Combinational Circuits
To design and verify Half Adder, Full Adder, Half Subtracter, and Full Subtractor using Boolean expressions. Design of a four bit magnitude comparator using combinational circuits. Design of a BCD to Excess 3 code converter, BCD to decimal converter, octal to binary converter, 3 bit binary to gray code converter using combinational circuits. Implementation of MUX and DeMUX, Encoder and Decoder
Unit III: Sequential Logic Design
To verify and observe the operation of flipflops. Implementation of shift registers and counters.
Course Objectives
- Students will Learn to minimize and design combinational logic.
- Also, understand the relationships between combination logic, sequential logic, and Boolean algebra.
Course Outcomes
• Minimization of the Boolean algebraic notations and design them using logic gates.
• Analysis and design of both combinational as well as sequential logic circuits.
