Subject Nature : Practical

Coordinator : Dr. Naresh Thota

Syllabus

The lab course details the procedures and opeations in chemical engineering unit operations. Prior theory experience of all the unit operations is needful. Experimental design and analysis skills will be developed. Unit operations such as grinding, size screening, settling tanks, drying equipment, ball and roll mills. Some other operations like adsoption, absorption, crystallization will be covered. This facilitates the students to apply this knowledge in any chemical engineering projects and ideas implementation.

Course Objectives

  • The Unit Operations Laboratory allows students to gain hands-on experience while studying both the fundamental principles and practical applications of chemical engineering.
  • This facility is specifically designed to introduce students to larger scale industrial processes commonly encountered by chemical engineers.
  • In this laboratory, students work in teams to apply principles learned in the classroom to solve practical engineering problems.

Course Outcomes

The students must be able to understand the principles in plant columns such as drying, size reduction and screening equipment, settling equipment, grinding and screening equipment.
