To understand the characteristics of different power semiconductor devices and their practical applications in power electronics converters. |

To provide introduction to operating principles, characteristics and performance of various power electronics converters for different operating conditions. |

To familiarize students with power electronics converter based open- and closed-loop motor drives to control the speed of electrical machines. |

To expose students to open- and closed-loop control of power electronics converters, measurements, and circuit connections. |
