Genome structure and composition, Factors that influence the size, content and function of the genome, human genome and genome projects, overview of genomics and bioinformatics, Genome sequencing, Genome annotation and gene prediction, sequence analysis of genes, genomes and biological data sources, Comparative Genomics, Phylogenetics and phylogenomics, Functional genomics, 3D structure and structural genomics, metagenomics, genome-wide profiling methods, Next-generation sequencing technologies and analysis, Epigenomics, systems biology and gene regulatory networks.

Course Objectives

  • The primary objective is to impart basics in bioinformatics and its application in genomes.
  • It'll help students to harness various genomes by different bioinformatics tools and techniques for discovering or addressing key biological questions/problems.

Course Outcomes

On completion of the syllabus, <br />? The student will be having an in-depth understanding of the organisation and content of the genomes <br />? The student will be able to explain how the genomes can be harnessed by different approaches of bioinformatics to draw conclusions about function, evolution and hidden treasures of the organisms.
