Subject {L-T-P / C} : LS3303 : Biophysics { 3-0-0 / 3}
Subject Nature : Theory
Coordinator : Prof. Suman Jha
Syllabus
Physico-chemical interactions involved in biological sciences, Physico-chemical properties of water, Laws of thermodynamics and their applications, Chemico-Physical properties of biomacromolecules - Proteins, Nucleic Acids, Lipids and Carbohydrates. Thermodynamics of DNA replications, transcription, translation, Chaperon assisted protein folding and degradation of protein aggregates.
Course Objectives
- To make the undergraduates of life science understand different but basics biological reactions, like protein folding and misfolding leading to Alzheimer's disease, happening in biological system from physico-chemical sciences point of view.
Course Outcomes
Students shall be able to understand the physico-chemical rules involved to execute the biological reactions, even the reactions happening for the first time in certain subjects.
