Syllabus

Principles, types and applications of pH meter, spectrophotometer/colorimeter, centrifuges, light-microscopes, sonicator, autoclave, biosafety cabinets/practices, electrophoretic techniques (including isoelectric focusing), precipitation, dialysis, ultrafiltration, lyophilization, polymerase chain reaction, and size exclusion chromatography.

Course Objectives

  • Objective of the course is to make the life science students understand the basic rules and working principles of most basic instruments being used by biologists working in very different range of biological sciences.

Course Outcomes

Students shall be able to apply different instrumentation for their biological research, and shall be able to modify the technique for project’s suitability.
