Syllabus
Classification and nomenclature of enzymes, Mechanism of enzyme action, Regulation of enzyme activity, Kinetics, Inhibitors, Isozymes, Ribozymes, Abzymes, Bioenergetics – Oxidative and Photophosphorylation, Electron transport system and ATP synthesis. Carbohydrate Metabolism, Amino acid metabolism, Lipid metabolism, Nucleic acid metabolism, Mechanism of selective reactions, Regulation of metabolic pathways, Metabolic disorders.
Course Objectives
- Students will gain an understanding of the basic concepts in enzymology.
- Students will study the different metabolic pathways
- Students will analyse the reasons behind the metabolic disorders
Course Outcomes
After completing this course, <br />? Students shall know the principles of catalysis in biological systems. <br />? Students will understand the reactions of metabolic pathways and their regulatory mechanisms.
