Subject Nature : Practical

Coordinator : Dr. Suman Ghosh

Syllabus

The content of this course is designed by numerical (CFD) simulation of different real-life fluid flow problems. For the complete semester, total 7-10 computational problems will be given. For each of the computational problem separate viva should be taken (total 7-10 viva). 1 written class test should be conducted.

Course Objectives

 • Objectives are: (i) to employ the fundamentals concepts (learned from fluid courses) for the numerical simulation of real life problems (ii) to apply the CFD theory to numerically solve the real life fluid flow problem (iii) to know the basic approaches for numerical modelling (iv) to get a basic understanding about the boundary conditions used in flow problem and mathematical modelling of it.

Course Outcomes

1. The students will have better concept, more clear understanding and firm grasp of the basic principles in CFD with computational fluid flow engineering and sciences.
2. The students will have better understanding about the underlying physics behind the phenomena related to fluid flow.
3. The students will have creative thinking and a deeper understanding and intuitive feel for fluid engineering and sciences.
4. The students will have necessary skills to bridge the gap between knowledge and the confidence to properly apply knowledge on the broad application area of fluid flow engineering.
