Course Details

Subject {L-T-P / C} : EE6172 : Advanced Communication Laboratory { 0-0-3 / 2}

Syllabus

1. Study and analysis of modulation and demodulation techniques of ASK, FSK, and PSK schemes and etc.
2. Introduction to Matlab and Simulink (Communication toolbox and Communication block sets).
3. Design of the basic baseband communication modules using Matlab/Simulink.
4. Analysis of Digital Baseband Modulation & Demodulation schemes (e.g., M-ary PAM, M-ary PSK M-ary QAM) using Matlab/Simulink.
5. Design of QAM-based DS-SS system using Matlab /Simulink and analysis of the BER vs SNR performance of a CDMA system.
6. Design of OFDM transmitter and receiver using Matlab/Simulink and evaluate the BER performance of a QAM-based OFDM system for AWGN and fading channels.
7. Study of different Equalization and Diversity schemes in a Space-Time Block Coded (STBC) MIMO system Using Matlab.
8. Design of QPSK baseband transmission & its performance evaluation in the real-time demodulation domain using SystemVue Software.
9. Design a data flow simulation & its time-domain analysis using RF signal transmission and reception for a basic baseband data /signal Using SystemVue Software.
10. Study of 5G NR waveform generations for both uplink and downlink, 5G NR link-level performance, 5G uplink, and downlink channel model Using Matlab.
11. Mini Projects relevant to the experiments.

Course Objectives

  • Design and analysis of the performance of various modulation schemes in different wireless channel models.
  • Study of MIMO systems with various modulation and coding schemes.
  • Analysis of multicarrier modulation techniques.
  • Design and application of various spread spectrum modulation schemes & Study of 5G NR system.

Course Outcomes

CO1: To get the well versed with different modulation techniques, wireless channel models and schemes to improve the quality of received signal. <br />CO2: To learn the methodology to model MIMO, OFDM, and MIMO-OFDM system. <br />CO3: To study and analyze the Space-Time Block Coded (STBC) MIMO system. <br />CO4: Design & analyzing the performance of advanced communication system. <br />CO5: Learning about implementation of advanced wireless technologies with fading environment.
