Course Details

Subject {L-T-P / C} : EC6408 : RF and Microwave Integrated Circuits { 3-0-0 / 3}

Subject Nature : Theory

Syllabus

RF/ Microwave Passive Components: S-parameters, Microwave networks, Planar Transmission Lines, Smith-chart, Impedance matching (narrow and broad band) circuit design using lumped elements and distributed elements, Power dividers & Couplers design using lumped and distributed components, Linear amplifier design (narrow-band, low-noise, broad-band), Balanced circuit design using mixed mode S-parameters.
Linear and Non-linear amplifiers circuit design (simulation software CAD), Harmonic Balance analysis, Mixers- Single ended, balanced, double balanced, different configurations, Noise properties, Low noise Oscillators- various configurations depending on active device, stability and noise, resonators, VCO, transient analysis using SPICE, harmonic balance analysis, frequency synthesis using DDS, PLL Detection and measurement of microwave signals.

Course Objectives

  • To provide basic information on the RF circuit design
  • To familiar with RF CAD software to design linear and non-linear RF circuits
  • To design narrow and broadband RF circuits
  • To understand the difference between transient and harmonic balance analysis

Course Outcomes

After successful completion of this course, students should be able to: <br />a. Understand RF circuits, devices, and system. <br />b. Understand design of RF & Microwave Integrated Circuit. <br />c. Solve problems related to it
