Syllabus

MODULE-I: Experimental study on techniques of basic radar measurements, [6 Hours]

MODULE-II: Matched filtering operation, [6 Hours]

MODULE-III: Modeling of radar targets, [6]

MODULE-IV: MTI radar design, target detection in noise, [6]

MODULE-V: Estimation of bearing angle in noise, clutter modelling. [3]

MODULE-VI: Frequency modulated radar signal generation and Doppler shift Signal strength and SNR loss measurement in pulse compression, [9]

Course Objectives

  • Simulation of radar target signal, clutter for analysing a system and study effectiveness of a radar system in terms of its detection and estimation accuracy.
  • Application of radar signal processing in radar imaging.
  • Performance evaluation of radar system.
  • Masters students will learn how to simulate a radar system and do signal processing for detection, estimation, feature extraction and recognition.

Course Outcomes

CO1: Able to learn acquisition and analysis of real world data for various RADAR measurements. <br />CO2: Learning on computer simulation of variety of RADAR that are being developed in present time to address the challenges of Modern and Next Generation RADAR. <br />CO3: Able to carry out research and development of the RADAR systems design and quality technical report preparation on the work done. <br />CO4: Acquire the hands-on experience on target and clutter modeling, signal generation technology, matched filtering, detection and estimation, statistical approaches of signal processing of Modern RADAR Systems. <br />CO5: The understanding on Modern RADAR system handling is attractive to industry applications as military, airport, mining and Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), etc.
