Syllabus

Module 1 :

Module 1: Introduction to Wireless channel models: Rayleigh, Rician and other channel models. 5 Hours

Module 2: Introduction to multiple access technologies: TDMA, FDMA, CDMA, OFDMA, Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA), Rate Splitting Multiple Access (RSMA), Index Modulation Multiple Access (IMMA) etc. and their applications. 6 Hours

Module 3: Introduction to Multicarrier systems: OFDM and wireless LAN, WiMAX, GSM, WCDMA, 3GPP LTE and other 4G, 5G, 6G standards. 6 Hours

Module 4: Interference Management and Capacity. 6 Hours

Module 5: Capacity of scalar wireless channels: Capacity of time invariant and time varying channels. 6 Hours

Module 6: Capacity of MISO, SIMO, MIMO systems, V-BLAST and D-BLAST, STBC and STTC. 6 Hours

Course Objective

1 .

To learn the different channel models in wireless communications.

2 .

To analyze the capacity of different wireless channels.

3 .

To analyze and compare various multiple access techniques.

4 .

To understand and apply multicarrier techniques.

Course Outcome

1 .

CO1: To understand the wireless channel characteristics and its statistical models.
CO2: To be well versed with the popular wireless communications technologies, e.g., CDMA, OFDM, MIMO, etc.
CO3: To understand the achievable capacity of digital communications over time-varying fading channels.
CO4: To be able to understand modern multi-antenna systems, i.e., MIMO and related transmitter and receiver structures.
CO5: To be able to analyze and compare capacity of different wireless channels..
