Module 1 :

Module1: Introduction: Introduction to Analog IC Design, Design Flow of Analog ICs, MOSFET Characteristics and Parameters, MOSFET Models, MOS Diode, MOS Capacitors, MOS Switches, Noise in MOSFETs. 7 Hours

Module2: CMOS Amplifiers: Single stage amplifiers: CS, CG and CD stages, Small Signal Models, Input Output Impedances, and Frequency Response. Differential Amplifier, Cascode Amplifiers, Current Amplifiers. 8 Hours

Module3: CMOS Sub-Circuits: Current Sinks and Sources, Simple and Cascode current Mirrors, Wilson Current Mirror, and High Swing Current Mirror. Current and Voltage References, Band gap Reference. 6 Hours

Module4: CMOS Operational Amplifiers: Design of CMOS Op-Amps, Compensation of Op Amps, Design of Two-Stage Op-Amps, Common-mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR), Power- Supply Rejection Ratio (PSRR), Cascode Op-Amps, and Characterization Techniques of OP-Amps. 7 Hours

Module5: Mixed Signal Design Fundamentals: Design of MOS Comparators, Data Converter Fundamentals, Digital-to-analog Converters, Analog-to-Digital Converters, Switch Capacitor Circuits, Phase locked loops, Techniques of Analog Layout. 8 Hours

Course Objective

1 .

To provide in-depth understanding of MOSFET and its small signal model and various non- idealities.

2 .

To provide in-depth understanding of single stage amplifiers, differential amplifier, Op-amp and biasing circuits

3 .

To provide basic understanding of mixed signal circuits like Comparator, ADC, DAC and PLL

Course Outcome

1 .

CO1: To be well versed with the MOS fundamentals, small signal models and analysis of MOSFET based circuits.
CO2: Able to analyze and design single stage amplifiers, current mirrors and solve related problems.
CO3: Able to analyze and design biasing circuits, voltage and current references and solve related problems.
CO4: Able to analyze and design Differential Amplifier, OP-AMP and solve related problems.
CO5: Able to analyze and design mixed mode circuits such as Comparator, ADCs, DACs, PLL and solve related problems.
