Syllabus
Lab 1: Plot BER curves for BPSK, QPSK and higher modulation schemes for the following wireless channels:
• AWGN
• flat fading and
• Rayleigh fading channels
Compare the simulated and theoretical curves.
Lab 2: Plot BER curves for Receiver diversity in the Rayleigh fading channel using SC, EGC and MRC techniques.
Lab 3: Simulate a MIMO input using singular value decomposition for zero coefficients.
Lab 4: Simulate optimum power allocation in a MIMO system using a Water filling algorithm.
Lab 5: Design and simulate an OFDM communication system using MATLAB and plot the BER in AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels.
Lab 6: Design and simulate a CDMA system using orthogonal codes and plot the BER in AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels.
Lab 7: Design and simulate a CDMA system using non-orthogonal codes and plot the BER in AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels.
Lab 8: Design and simulate an FHMA system using 10 different carrier frequencies and plot the BER in AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels.
Lab 9: Design a MIMO system using STBC in MATLAB.
Lab 10: Simulate a V-BLAST system using MATLAB.
Course Objectives
- Design and testing of the performance of various modulation schemes in different <br />wireless channel models.
- Design of diversity and equalization techniques for wireless applications.
- Study of MIMO systems with various modulation and coding schemes.
- Analysis of multicarrier modulation techniques. <br />Design and application of various spread spectrum modulation schemes.
Course Outcomes
CO1: To get well versed with the use of different modulation techniques. <br />CO2: To be able to model and analyze the wireless channels. <br />CO3: To learn to apply the schemes to improve the quality of received signals. <br />CO4: To learn the methodology to model MIMO, OFDM and MIMO-OFDM systems. <br />CO5: To study and analyze the MIMO system with STBC coding. <br />CO6: Implement the latest techniques for wireless communication systems.
