Introduction, Foundation Types, Bearing Capacity Equations, Shallow Footing Design, Lateral Earth Pressures, Retaining Wall Design, Deep Foundations Overview, Axial Capacity and Settlement of Piles, Lateral Loads on Piles, Pile Groups, Design of Pile Cap, Bridge pier and abutments, Design of vessel foundation, design of machine foundation, Design of foundation bolt.
Course Objectives
- Students will be able to learn design of foundation effectively
- Students will be able to apply theoretical, empirical and numerical analysis and design techniques to complex foundation systems
