Syllabus
Consolidation test, CBR test, Heavy compaction test, Marsh cone viscosity test, Relative density of sand, Triaxial shear test, Swelling pressure, Load test on model footing, Standard penetration test, Direct shear test, Flow net by electrical analogy and scaled model methods, Field vane shear test.
Course Objectives
- To understand the settelment of soil under foundation
- To understand the properties of bentonite
- To understand the different soil properties associated with foundation
- To understand the shear behaviour of soil
Course Outcomes
At the end of the course the students will be able to: <br />Understand and perform different tests related to the design of foundations <br />Analyze the test results <br />Design geotechnical structures based on test results
