Syllabus
LAB 1 and LAB 2: Diagnostic microscopy: Learning the method of DC (differential count) of blood cells, evaluation of PBS (peripheral blood smear), Microbial staining and differentiation under the microscopy.
LAB 3 and LAB 4: Biochemical Analysis: Learning the principle of biochemical analyzer and estimation of blood parameters (glucose, urea and creatinine).
LAB 5 and LAB 6: Serology based assays: Hands on experience with WIDAL tests, Lateral flow assay kits and ELISA assays
LAB 7 and LAB 8: Hands on experience with PCR and RT-PCR based assays.
LAB 9: Spirometry: Hands on experience with spirometer and analysis
LAB 10: Hands on experience with EEG and analysis
LAB 11 and LAB 12: To understand the analysis and interpretation of various medical images such as USG,X-Ray, CT Scan. MRI and PET Scan
Course Objectives
- To learn various equipment for the diagnosis of diseases
- To understand the functions of various medical imaging techniques
Course Outcomes
The students will understand the documentations and safety in diagnostic laboratory scenario. <br />The students will be able to prepare blood film and perform routine microscopical tests with the blood films. <br />The students will be able to perform UV-Visible spectroscopy based biochemical tests . <br />The students will be able to perform diagnostic tests based on serology. <br />The students would understand the significance of information hidden in biomedical signals. <br />The students will understand the various imaging technique and significance of information in diagnostic imaging.
