Subject {L-T-P / C} : BM3710 : Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory { 0-0-3 / 2}

Syllabus

Water analysis: Determination of pH, electrical conductivity, alkalinity, Hardness, total suspended solids (TSS) and total dissolved solids (TDS) in water samples. Wastewater analysis: Determination of dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand in wastewater samples. Soil analysis: Determination of organic matter, cation exchange capacity and acidity in soil samples. Air analysis: Determination of carbon monoxide, oxides of Sulphur, oxides of nitrogen in air samples Isolation of microflora (bacteria, fungi, mold and pollen) from different environmental medium. Biodegradation studies for the removal of toxic pollutants, Biosorption studies for the removal of heavy metals and dyes. Bioleaching studies for the recovery of heavy metals and dyes.

Course Objectives

  • To make the students familiarize with the laboratory protocols on related to environmental biotechnology
  • To make the student competent for designing different environmental project
