Introduction and history, Isolation and screening, Strain characterization, Strain improvement (molecular Breeding, rDNA Technology), Production media, Inoculum preparation and inoculum Development, Industrial sterilization, Scale up and Scale down for bioprocess, Bioreactors, Bioprocesses and their optimization, Product purification and recovery, Details of Industrially relevant productsantibiotics (penicillin, streptomycin etc), enzymes (amylases & proteases), hormone, pharmaceuticals, growth factors, food products, bioenergy (alcohols-acetone-butanol, production of ethanol), aminoacids production, production of L- glutamic acid, production of vitamin B12, production of single cell proteins, production of yeast/ mushrooms, production of fermented foods, production of microbial insecticides, production of Biopolymers, Biofuels, biogas, production of Bioplastics, Biosurfactants, and Biofertilizers, General rules in patents and practices.

Course Objectives

  • To gain knowledge regarding sustainable product development and technology transfer to the Industry.
