Introduction Bioprocessing of plant, microbial and animal cells overview of bioprocess optimization Applications of bioprocess optimization Medium components (inorganic and organic components, vitamins, carbon source, gas phase composition) fermentation parameters (pH, temperature, inoculum) and other essential factors for fermentation medium optimization for optimal growth and production formation natural, complex and defined media optimization using OVAT approach (One Variable at A Time) full factorial design of experiments Partial factorial design of experiments Plackett-Burman design for identification of effective factors for media optimization Response surface methodology Central composite design Box Benken design, ANOVA, statistical analysis.

Course Objectives

  • To enable the students understand the various bioprocess optimization strategies

Course Outcomes

1. Detail idea for the bioprocess optimization studies. <br />2. Students will have detail idea about how response surface methodology is performed for biological process optimization.
