Interphase systems – biocompatible inorganic devices, microfluidics for nanotechnology, printing of proteins, cell-nanostructure interactions, defined networks for neuronal cells in vitro Protein based nanostructures – S-layers, engineered nanopores, genetic approaches to programmed assembly, microbial nanoparticle production, magnetosomes, bacteriorhodopsin, polymer nanocontainers, biomolecular motors, nanoparticle-biomaterial hybrid systems DNA based nanostructures – DNA-protein nanostructures, DNA templated electronics, biomimetic fabrication, mineralization in nanostructured biocompartments, DNA-gold nanoparticle conjugates, DNA nanostructures for mechanics and computing, nanoparticles as non-viral transfection agents Nanoanalytics- luminescent quantum dots, nanoparticle molecular labels, force spectroscopy, Biofunctionalized Nanoparticles

Course Objectives

  • To gain the in-depth knowledge of the field of nanobiotechnology.
  • To inculcate well-developed problem solving skills, applying knowledge and using ability to think analytically and creatively.

Course Outcomes

• Apply the essential concepts used in nanobiotechnology, syntheses and fabrication. <br />• Read critically the scientific literature on nanotechnology and nanobiotechnology. <br />• Discuss the application of nanobiotechnology in major scientific fields.
