Introduction to cognitive neuroscience, Neuroanatomy , sensory and motor system, action potential ,Neuroimaging methods in cognitive neuroscience, A critical eye on fMRI, Object Recognition, Functional specialization of high-level vision, Attention, Attention and neglect, executive control, Mental imagery, Navigation, Synesthesia, Novelty, Frontal lobe functions, Working memory and control processes, Reward, LTP and synapses , value based decision making, Reinforcement learning, Parkinson's disease, Audition and music, Amusia, Emotion and Social Cognition, The Aging Brain, Potential societal implications of cognitive neuroscience

Course Objectives

  • To learn about the fundamentals of neuroscience
  • To understand the role of signal processing and brain imaging in neuroscience

Course Outcomes

At the end of the course the student will be able to <br />1. Understand the neuroanatomy, different functional aspects of brain and principles of signal processing in brain. <br />2. Explain the role and application of medical imaging in neuroscience research.
