Course Objectives

  • Gains hands-on experience on various methods in biomaterials and tissue engineering
  • Understanding different physical and chemical properties of the biomaterials required in tissue engineering.
  • Fabrication, surface treatment and coating of different implant materials
  • Understand working principles of various characterization techniques and protocols used in biomaterials and tissue engineering

Course Outcomes

-Demonstrate laboratory skills in fabrication and characterization of scaffolds for tissue engineering. <br />-Able to understand the need of different characterization techniques. <br />-Able to explain how composition, structure and treatment modify the mechanical properties. <br /> -Able to describe the interactions of biomaterials with the biological environment <br />-Learn aseptic techniques in handling cell culture and tissue engineering.
