Syllabus

-Basics of photography – focusing, exposure, depth of field and composition, basics of digital photography-history and evolution, handling of SLR camera
-Introduction to Architectural Photography, study of works by Architectural Photographs, analysis and presentations
-Compositions on interplay of light and shadow in architectural photography- study of relevant examples on the topic, assignment submissions on photoshoots on the topic taking built forms in nearby destinations
-Compositions on presentation of architectural elements -such as doors, windows, staircases, balcony, façade treatment etc. as part of documentation or abstract art form, study of relevant examples on the topic, assignment submissions on photoshoots on the topic built forms in nearby destinations
-Relevance of vegetation and human figures in Architectural Photography – study of compositions and assignment submissions built forms in nearby destinations
-Shooting interior spaces- study of interior photoshoots highlighting effect of colour and composition, assignment submissions on photoshoots on the topic built forms in nearby destinations
-Study of artistic attributes – rhythm, symmetry and asymmetry, balance and occult balance, size and proportions, positive and negative spaces etc. – guiding the compositions in architectural photography, assignment on presentation of case studies and own portfolio from the previous four modules.
-Post capture digital image processing- the desired and the undesired, file saving formats, concept of image size and resolutions and acceptable resolutions based upon context and use, application of filters or monochrome effects based upon purpose

Course Objectives

  • To learn about the art and science of capturing photographs of built forms
