List of Experiments to be conducted in the Laboratory:
1. Study of MSA type Gas mask (Model: “SW”, Air purifying filter)
2. Study of MSA type Self Rescuer (Model: IW-65)
3. Study of Oxygen Self Contained Breathing Apparatus-Dragger BG-174
4. Study of Oxygen Self Contained Breathing Apparatus-Travox-120
5. Study of Drager Pulmotor (Model: PT-60)
6. Study of smoke detector and Wireless Alarm control system.
7. Study of different type of portable fire extinguishers
8. Study of the construction and working of explosion proof fire stoppings
09. Study of different type of personal protective equipment
10 .Determination of Ignition temperature of coal by using Flammability Temperature Apparatus.
11. Determination of Relative Inflammability Index (RI Index) using Inflammability Index apparatus

Course Objectives

  • To understand hazards and assess the risks associated in mining operation.
  • Student will able to learn learn the procedures to operate different types of rescue apparatus, firefighting equipment and personal protective equipment.
  • To make conversant with Emergency management System and Rescue procedures.

Course Outcomes

CO1: The students will know about the types of hazards present in underground mine like fire, explosion and inundation etc. <br />CO2: Student will acquire the Knowledge regarding the development and implementation of proactive Safety Management Plan. <br />CO3: The students will gain knowledge on the rescue and recovery operations to be conducted in emergency situations in underground mines.
