Syllabus

Solving linear and non-linear algebraic, dynamic equations using MATLAB, Process Optimization, open loop/closed loop process simulation using MATLAB, Design of Inverse Response Compensator, Smith Predictor in open loop simulation. PID, IMC, and IMC based PID controller Design, Use of OPTIMIZATION, DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION SOLVER, SIMULINK and CONTROL TOOLBOX for process simulation (open loop and closed loop).

Course Objectives

  • To provide exposure in MATLAB (as a language and a simulation platform as well)
  • To Provide exposure in MATLAB DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION SOLVER
  • To enable the students to perform Open and closed loop Process simulation using CONTROL TOOLBOX and SIMULINK
  • Use of OPTIMIZATION TOOLBOX (MATLAB) in Process Design

Course Outcomes

1. Students will be able to apply MATLAB and SIMULINK in solving problems related to process Control /Process Plant Simulation <br />2. Students will be able to solve dynamic equations using DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION SOLVER TOOLBOX <br />3. Students will be able to apply the CONTROL TOOLBOX and SIMULINK in solving Process Dynamics, controller design and Tuning. <br />4. Students will be able to apply the OPTIMIZATION TOOLBOX for parameter estimation in Control System Design.
