Subject Nature : Practical
Coordinator : Prof. Jnana Ranjan Senapati
Syllabus
Introduction to Design Modeller basic, sketching, and modeling, generating a mesh, creating name selections, checking mesh quality, basic overview of using an ANSYS FLUENT interface, cell zone and boundary condition, CFD post, plotting the results. Solving some simple problems like laminar pipe flow, turbulent flow over a flat plate, turbulent flow over a flat plate with roughness on the surface, calculation of skin friction coefficient and Nusselt number for internal and external flow situation.
Course Objectives
- To understand and get familiar with the modeling of various flow phenomena commonly encountered in fluid mechanics and heat transfer applications using commercial CFD package ANSYS FLUENT.
Course Outcomes
Course Outcomes: At the end of the course, the student will be able to
CO1: learn the commercial package ANSYS-Fluent.
CO2: solve some basic examples of fluid flow problems as studied in the fluid mechanics course.
CO3: solve some fundamental problems related to heat transfer.
CO4: approach some practical examples in day-to-day life to get a CFD solution to that situation.
