Course Objectives

 • To understand the formation of rock, properties and behaviour under different field situations and able to predict the strength of rock for designing the rock structure in on rock masses.

Course Outcomes

CO1: Able to know the formation of various types of rock and their properties.
CO2: Knowledge of Field and laboratory test procedures and be able to interpret test results needed to estimate intact and rock mass properties.
CO3: Able to know about Geological structures (joints, crack, faults, and fold) and their side effects on engineering projects.
CO4: Identify problems in the rock mass and able to provide improvement in the properties of the rock mass.
CO5: To know the properties of rocks and one may predict the strength and behaviour of rocks for designing structures in/on rock masses.
