Subject Nature : Theory

Coordinator : Prof. Bhaskar Kundu

Syllabus

Continuum mechanics and Rheology Stress, deformation and strain Elasticity, Flow, Strain rate, Viscosity and Plasticity Continuum approach of Earth - Short term scale vs Long term scale process of the Earth, Internal composition of Earth and its rheological variations, Earthquake cycle, Post-seismic deformation, Earthquake and Volcano interactions Strength profile of continental lithosphere Experimental data on rock deformation – influence of P, T and fluid.

Course Objectives
