Syllabus

1. Introduction to the design of microwave components using ANSYS HFSS.
2. Measurement of scattering parameters of one port and two-port microstrip transmission line.
3. Design and simulation of Rectangular Waveguide in ANSYS HFSS.
4. Design and simulation of 3 dB Microstrip Power Divider.
5. Design and simulation of Magic Tee (3D structure) in ANSYS HFSS.
6. Design and simulation of Rat Race Coupler using ANSYS designer.
7. Design and simulation of Quadrature Coupler using ANSYS designer.
8. Design and simulation of Wilkinson Power Divider using ANSYS HFSS.
9. Design and simulation of Wilkinson Power Divider using ANSYS designer.
10. Design and simulation of maximally flat and Equiripple band pass filter.
11. Testing of RF switch and amplifier using Performance Network Analyzer (PNA).
12. Calibration of Vector Network Analyzer and characterization of one port & two-port microwave devices.
13. Study of multi-hole Directional Coupler using an X-band microwave test bench.
14. Introduction to design of microwave components using CST Microwave Studio suite 2020.

Course Objectives

  • Students will be able to design Power dividers, Couplers, and feed networks for antennas using ANSYS HFSS.
  • Students will be able to design Rectangular waveguides using ANSYS HFSS.
  • Students will be able to calibrate the Vector Network Analyzer and characterization of one port & two-port microwave devices.
  • Students will be able to test the RF switches and amplifier using Performance Network Analyzer (PNA).

Course Outcomes

After the completion of this course, students will be able to: <br /> <br />CO1: understand the design aspect of Power dividers, Couplers, and feed networks using HFSS <br />CO2: describe describe the working principle of Power dividers, Couplers, and feed networks qualitatively. <br />CO3: analyze different parameters using HFSS. <br />CO4: apply the knowledge to investigate the cause and effect qualitatively <br />CO5: design some basic design by their own
