Origin and Age of the Earth Geological time-scale Earth’s internal structure Earthquakes and seismic waves Volcano, Earth’s magnetic and gravity fields Palaeomagnetism. Continental Drift Sea-floor spreading Plate Tectonics Island Arcs, Mid-oceanic Ridge, Isostasy, Structure of Atmosphere and related phenomena Geological Hazards Origin and Evolution of ocean basins, Ocean Circulation, Global Warming Geological processes operating on the surface of earth. Landforms produced by actions of river, wind, groundwater, glacier and wave Coastal geomorphology

Course Objectives

  • To provide fundamental ideas about the physical processes operating on the earth's surface.
  • To understand the origin of Earth and its evolution with time
  • To understand plate tectonics and different types of plate boundaries on Earth,
  • To understand the Atmospheric Structure, origin, and Evolution of ocean basins and Global Warming.

Course Outcomes

Expertise students on different processes on Earth's surface. <br />Providing Basic knowledge to students about Global Warming, the origin and Evolution of ocean basins, and the origin of the earth
