Course Objectives

 • To learn independent and coupled oscillation processes such as springs, atoms, etc.
 • To learn the effect of damping on the oscillation process.
 • To learn the wave motion and energy transmission
 • To learn the basic optics such as Coherence, superposition, Interference, Diffraction, polarization, and its application.

Course Outcomes

CO1: Recognize and use mathematical oscillator equation and wave equation, and derive these equations for certain systems.
CO2: Understand the effect of damping and periodic force on the oscillating body.
CO3: Study of Lissajous figures and the motion of coupled oscillators,
CO4: Use the principles of wave motion and superposition to explain the physics of polarization, interference and diffraction.
