Course Details

Subject {L-T-P / C} : CE1701 : Engineering Drawing { 0-0-3 / 2}

Syllabus

Introduction to AutoCAD basic commands, Code provision of IS-696 regarding Lines, Lettering and Dimensioning. Drawing of Scales (Plane Scales, Diagonal Scales, Vernier Scales and Scales of Chords), Construction of simple geometrical figures and Engineering curves.

Orthographic Projections: Projection of a point situated in various quadrants, projections of straight lines, true length, true inclinations and traces of a straight lines, auxiliary projections, auxiliary inclined and Auxiliary vertical planes, projection of plane figures.

Projection of simple solids, Auxiliary projection of solids, section of solids, true shape of section.

Development of surfaces: prisms, pyramids, cylinders, cones, spheres, pipe bends Isometric projection: Principles, Isometric scales, Isometric projection of plane figures and simple solids.

Course Objectives

  • The course is aimed at developing Basic Graphic skills.
  • Develop Skills in Preparation of Basic Drawings.
  • Skills in Reading and Interpretation of Engineering Drawings.

Course Outcomes

After the completion of this course, students will be able to: <br /> <br />CO1: Basic learning of software tools to draw basic figures. <br />CO2: Comprehend general projection theory, with an emphasis on the use of orthographic projection to represent three-dimensional objects in two-dimensional views. <br />CO3: Apply auxiliary or sectional views to represent engineered parts most practically. <br />CO4: Understand the intersection, and development of surface of body. <br />CO5: To interpret Orthographic, Isometric and Perspective views of objects.
