Syllabus

General characteristics of effluents, effluent treatment with respect to biiological methods, a general concept of biological entities, media sterilization, growth kinetics, numericals based on growth and production, Control system in fermenter, Advanced Process –Trickling bed fitter and Activated Sludge Process Sludge disposal methods:Anaerobic processes Sludge digestion Aerobic effluent treatment Gas production and utilization.Bioremediation: Insitu and Ex-situ methods.

Course Objectives

  • To equip the students with bio remediation and biological methods to keep the environment free from pollutants
  • To inculcate the basic function of a bioreactor in waste management
  • To equip an individual with basic skills to work in industry.

Course Outcomes

1. It provides basic knowledge in microbiology and its application in bioremediation. <br />2. It gives an insight about various biological methods in effluent treatment and design of bioreactors. <br />3. It will be helpful to design engineers, environmentalist, biotechnologist in various industries.
