Global trends and geo-political analysis, Statistical data on oil and natural gas, Properties of oil and natural gas, Reservoir characteristics reservoir deliverability and forecast on well production, Drilling methods and drill mud analysis, Production decline and enhanced oil recovery techniques, Directional drilling and artificial lift methods: Matrix acidizing, Hydraulic fracturing, Production optimization and pipeline networking, Onshore and Off-shore drilling and production.

Course Objectives

  • The basic aim of this course is to acquaint students with the fundamentals of reservoir and petroleum production for both crude oil and natural gas across various on and off-shore terrains across the globe and challenges involved therein.

Course Outcomes

The students will gain knowledge on different petroleum reserves, their exploration from different terrains along with logistical and technical challenges involved. A detailed understanding on rotary drilling techniques along with enhanced oil and gas recovery principles have been set as a prime outcome of this course.
