Syllabus

1. Familiarization with PLC and its programming
2. Speed control of Servomotor using PLC
3. Experiment on application of PLC in hydraulic system control
4. Experiment on application of PLC in pnematic system control
5. Familiarization with hardware and software platforms for DCS
6. Study and understand the functions and applications of timers and counters
7. Implementation of Logic for Bottle Filling Application
8. Logic Implementation for traffic control system
9. Implementation of Logic for Bottle Filling Application
10. Tuning of PID controller for heat exchanger system using DCS
11. Experiments on Transmission module and Distribution module of SCADA

Course Objectives

  • Identify different components of automation system interface the given I/O device with appropriate PLC module.
  • To Prepare a PLC ladder program for a given application and simulate PLC circuits. Design Hydraulic and Pneumatic circuits for automation.
  • To understand the working of logical circuits and analyze the performance of different types of controllers.
  • To make the students aware about the automation used in various industrial applications and the use of PLC, DCS and SCADA in different processes.

Course Outcomes

After the completion of this course, students will be able to: <br /> <br />CO1: Understand and analyse Ladder diagram concept to test digital logic gates. <br />CO2: Analyse and implement any Simple industrial electronics circuit, PLC programming. <br />CO3: Demonstrate the working of logical circuits and analyse the performance of different types of controllers. <br />CO4: Understand principles, strategies and advantages of industrial automation. <br />CO5: Gain practical knowledge in PC based data acquisition, analysis and control of different process trainers. <br />CO6: Understand the automation used in various industrial applications and the use of PLC, DCS and SCADA in different processes.
