BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Preetam Sarkar graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Dairy Technology from the West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, India. Dr. Sarkar graduated with a MS degree in Food and Nutritional Sciences from California State University-Fresno and a PhD in Food Sciences from Purdue University, USA. Dr. Sarkar served as graduate research and teaching assistants at both California State University-Fresno and Purdue University. Thereafter, Dr. Sarkar joined the Department of Food Process Engineering at National Institute of Technology Rourkela, India as an assistant professor of food science in 2014. The primary research focus of Dr. Sarkar at the National Institute of Technology Rourkela has been directed towards valorization of agricultural and food processing products and byproducts by utilizing them in bioactive food packaging systems. In addition, Dr. Sarkar’s research also focuses on the formulation and characterization of food-grade emulsion systems as delivery vehicles for active ingredients such as antimicrobial compounds.
