An Institute of National Importance

Centre for Nanomaterials

Welcome to Centre for Nanomaterials

The Centre for Nanomaterials (CNM) was established in 2008 to focus on the emerging areas of nanomaterials research. A large number of faculties and students across the departments of National Institute Technology, Rourkela, are involved to perform high-impact interdisciplinary research on nanoscience and technology in this centre since its inception. The main research focus of the Centre includes Environmental nanotechnology, Catalysis, Sensors, Nanobiotechnology, Nano-medicine, Nanomaterials for Energy applications, Synthesis and characterization of functional nanomaterials.

Objectives of CNM

  1. To facilitate cutting edge research in various fields of Nanoscience & Technology.
  2. To improve fundamental understanding of matter that enables control and manipulation at the nanoscale to develop new advanced materials.
  3. To promote applications leading to development of products and devices.
  4. Conducting periodic outreach programmes to disseminate knowledge on nanoscience and nanotechnology to the scientific community.
  5. To promote international and national collaborations and joint research projects.
