Syllabus
1. Liquid-vapor phase change heat transfer: Heat pipe apparatus.
2. Pool and flow boiling measurements, Critical heat flux apparatus.
3. Condensation: Dropwise and Filmwise condensation apparatus.
4. Heat exchanger experiments: Double pipe, Cross-flow, Coiled tube type.
5. Measurement of thermal conductivity: of Solid powder, Composite slab and Lagged pipe apparatus.
6. Measurement of Emissivity of grey surface, Stefan-Boltzmann apparatus.
7. Natural convection inside vertical cylinder.
8. Pin-fin apparatus and Forced convection apparatus.
Course Objectives
- 1. To introduce basic study of the phenomena of fluid flow and heat transfer <br /> <br />2. To develop methodologies for solving variety of real life engineering problems involving fluid flow and heat transfer
Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: <br />1. Understand fundamentals of heat transfer such as conduction, convection, radiation, phase change heat transfer <br />2. Analyze problems involving conduction, convection, and radiation <br />3. Understand experimental conditions and limitations <br />4. Develop experimental skill
