Syllabus
Material Properties: Concrete ,reinforcing steel bars , Basic Design Concepts - Working Stress Method, Ultimate Load Method , Limit States Method , Limit state of Collapse, Behaviour in Flexure: Singly and doubly reinforced Rectangular and Flanged section,Design for flexure, Shear ,Bond and Torsion. Limit state of serviceability : Deflection and Cracking, Design of One –way and two-way slabs, Design of Staircases Design of Compression Members: Design of Axially and eccentrically loaded short column, Design of Slender Column , Design of Footings , Detailing and Construction Practices
Course Objectives
- to inform characteristic properties of concrete and steel
- to render different philosophy of design of different elements of RC building
- to explain and justify the guidelines given in Standard Code IS 456-200 and its aids for design
- to discuss the arrangement of reinforcement in different elements as per the code
Course Outcomes
1.Student will understand different philosophy of design of RC structure. <br />2. Students will be able to analyze and design basic elements of RCC structure. <br />3. Student will be acquainted with guidelines given in codes for design of various elements and reinforcement detailing.
