Syllabus

Essential concepts of immunology, Immune system (tissues, organs and molecules of immune system), Types of immunity, Antibodies and AMI, Major Histocompatibility Complexes (MHCs) and CMI, Graft rejections, Immunization, Adjuvant, Vaccines, Use of antibody in diagnostics and therapy, Introduction to Hybridoma Technology, Immunoassays and related screening techniques: Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), Paper radio immunosorbent test (PRIST), Radio immuno assay (RIA), Immunocytochemistry and Immunohistochemistry (ICC & IHC), Immunoblotting (Western blotting), immuno diffusion and immunoelectrophoresis, Isolation and culture of cells of immune system, In vitro assessment of macrophage activation, Cr51 assay, MACS, Flow cytometry, Adaptive immune cell therapy, Point-of-care immunoassays, Immunotechnology in transplantation: Tissue typing, Use of immunotherapeutics : Safety, regulation and ethics.

Course Objectives

  • To equip the students with the knowledge of structure and complex functioning of immune system.
  • To aware the students about different immune techniques that are used in research and diagnostics, and therapeutics.
  • To provide the concepts, essential for the designing new immune techniques.

Course Outcomes

After completing the course, the student will be able <br />1. To understand the complex functioning of immune system <br />2. To perform and interpret various immunological procedures. <br />3. To analyze the results of various immune assays including clinical diagnostic reports. <br />4. To design immune assay as per the research requirements <br />5. To design and develop Antibody based immunotherapeutics as per industrial standards.
