Subject Nature : Practical
Coordinator : Prof. Jagabandhu Panda
Syllabus
Understanding the variability of meteorological and oceanographic parameters from different satellites. The satellites include INSTAT series, KALPANA, AQUA, TERRA, LANDSAT, IRS series, QuikSCAT, SCATSAT, OCEANSAT, METSAT, CHANDRAYAN satellites, Mars bound satellites etc. The parameters include, SST, TCHP, AOD, AE, WIND, TEMPERATURE, LU, RAINFALL etc...The software to be adopted are GrADS, MATLAB, NCL, NetCDF, HDF, CDO etc.
Course Objectives
- To familiarize the students about different meteorological and ocean parameters retrieved from different satellites, how to handle the data sets and plot them using the available software and how to analyze their variability.
Course Outcomes
The students would gain practical knowledge about satellite meteorology and oceanography applications.
