Course Objectives

  • To understand the fundamental science behind natural structures and their development
  • To understand how strain is accommodated in the brittle and ductile part of the crust
  • To fundamentals of Plate Tectonics and plate boundaries
  • To acquire knowledge of the present tectonic setup of the world and natural hazards related to it, as well as modern techniques to measure deformation at various scales.

Course Outcomes

Expertise students regarding basic concepts about deformation and associated structure, structural evolution of a particular area, crust, or lithosphere under different physical stress conditions, temperature, and pressure.
