BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Anurag Sharma is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, Odisha, India. He obtained his B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from NIT Silchar, M.Tech. and Ph.D. from IIT Guwahati, where his doctoral research focused on turbulence characteristics and sediment transport in non-uniform sand-bed channels. He subsequently worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Tsinghua University, Beijing, and served as an Assistant Professor at IITRAM, Ahmedabad. Earlier, he worked as a Senior Engineer at Larsen & Toubro Limited, Chennai. His research interests include fluvial hydraulics, river engineering, sediment transport, turbulence, eco-fluvial hydraulics, experimental fluid mechanics, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, and the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in water resources engineering. His research integrates laboratory experiments, numerical modelling, and data-driven techniques to address challenges in river hydraulics, sediment dynamics, flood management, and environmental fluid mechanics. Dr. Sharma has published more than 60 research papers in reputed international journals, including Advances in Water Resources, Physics of Fluids, Geomorphology, Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, International Journal of Sediment Research, Water Resources Management, and ASCE Journal of Hydrologic Engineering. He has also authored Springer book chapters and supervised Ph.D., M.Tech., and B.Tech. research scholars. He is currently leading and participating in externally funded research projects sponsored by the Ministry of Jal Shakti (NRCD) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). He has received several recognitions, including the Prof. R. J. Garde Young Researcher Award from the Indian Society for Hydraulics, ANRF International Travel Support, the Best Paper Award at HYDRO International 2025, and the Best Reviewer Award at HYDRO 2023. He serves as an Associate Edi
