Indian Meteorological Society Honours NIT Rourkela Scientists for Landmark Contributions to Climate and Atmospheric Research
NIT Rourkela faculty memebers; Dr. Bhishma Tyagi (Associate Professor, Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences) has been awarded the IMS Associate Fellowship, and Dr. Nagaraju Chilukoti (Assistant Professor, Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences) has received the IMS Young Scientist Award for Best Paper on Tropical Meteorology at the International Symposium on Tropical Meteorology (INTROMET-2025) held from 18–20 November 2025 at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) Pune, an institute under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India. The awards by the Indian Meteorological Society (IMS) were presented by Dr. M. Ravichandran (Secretary, MoES) in the presence of Dr A. Suryachandra Rao (Director, IITM Pune), Dr. M. Mohapatra (DGM, Indian Meteorological Department), and Shri Anand Sharma (President, Indian Meteorological Society) on 18th November 2025. Both faculty members of NIT Rourkela have been recognised for their significant contributions to atmospheric sciences and climate research.
